Moulin Rouge + Q&A with Angela Allen

Winning two Oscars , John Houston’s Moulin Rouge follows artist Toulouse- Lautrec who tends to forget his worries by drinking and mingling at the Moulin Rouge in Paris, sketching the ambience behind the scenes. Lonely and convinced that his crippled state means he will be alone forever, he is delighted to meet Marie, a young girl in need of help. The two become lovers, but even the fate of bohemian lovers can be cruel…

Special screening on the occasion of the Exhibition Into the Night, Cabarets & Clubs in Modern Art at the Barbican (until 19 Jan), followed by a Q&A with Angela Allen, Moulin Rouge ’s script supervisor.
