FESTIVALS & SERIES
As world leaders convene to commemorate the centenary of the World War One peace treaty (on 11 November 1918), and open the Paris Peace Forum (11-13 November)** the Institut français presents a series of cultural and academic events aiming at enlightening one of the founding times in 20th Century Europe.
Our programme includes Charles Chaplin’s Shoulder Arms , shot in 1918, Jean Renoir’s masterful war film La Grande Illusion and the more recent Ceasefire by Emmanuel Courcol along with first-hand testimonies of Indian soldiers sent on the French battlefield in Vijay Singh’s film Farewell My Indian Soldier and readings of letters from the Front followed by discussions and more events detailed hereinafter.
